Main food prep area rearranged to create tighter work triangle; granite countertop and granite composite sink; separate bar prep sink; custom travertine tile backsplash with rope beading and pyramid accent pieces; existing wall and base cherry cabinets; new maple island cabinets, with trim doors on sides to compliment functional doors on front; double drawer dishwasher (one drawer for small loads; both drawers for larger loads); push button sink food disposal; drop in stovetop, rearranged from island to perimeter wall; double wall oven; contemporary wall cooktop vent; base-cabinet mounted microwave drawer; LED accent lights under all wall cabinets, and behind wine rack; fluorescent accent lights above wall cabinets; all lighting, and each appliance, are on a separate circuit.

Kitchen makeover, using existing wall and base cabinets: removed valance and installed wall-mounted light over sink; removed existing island and installed new, more functional island, including pull-out trash drawer; new microwave, cooktop and oven; island is on individual electrical circuit; granite countertops; new stainless sink and bronze faucet; two granite end bookshelves on base cabinets; ceramic floor; skylight.

Maple wall and base cabinets; distressed oak island cabinet; all cabinet doors and drawers have “soft” closures; all base cabinet drawers are full extension; most wall, and all base, cabinets have trim doors on side to compliment functional doors on front; original oak flooring laced with new oak strips where wing wall and closet removed; Cambria countertops with matching cutting board, and porcelain tile backsplash; backsplash in back of cooktop was created from a magazine photo, with homeowner’s input; all lighting, and each appliance, is on a separate circuit; all under-cabinet lighting is on a separate wall switch; ceiling cans, in separate groupings, can be switched on and off from multiple locations.

Glaze-finished maple cabinets; wall cabinet crown molding wraps around entire kitchen; Cambria countertops with porcelain tile backsplash; in-cabinet double-shelf lazy susan on rotating shaft, with self-indexing door (rotating shaft always snaps back with cabinet door to the outside); in-cabinet pull-out spice rack, and trash drawer, all new oak flooring; floor heating vent relocated to cabinet toe kick; all lighting, and each appliance, is on a separate circuit; all under-cabinet lighting is on a separate wall switch; ceiling cans, in separate groupings, can be switched on and off from multiple locations; all artwork by owners’ grandchild.
